“CEEGA Professionals: Taking a Leap to Survive and Thrive”

The University Student Council-Makati in partnership with the Student Affairs Office, Marketing and Communications Section, the Academic Departments, and the Department-based Student Councils hosted the annual Job Hunting Seminar with the theme, “CEEGA Professionals: Taking a Leap to Survive and Thrive” last October 19, 2018. The activity served as an avenue for the graduating students to identify their desired career paths and ways to navigate through success.

Vice President and Dean of Studies for CEU Makati, Dr. Olivia M. Limuaco’s opening message which focused on imbibing the Centro Escolar Expected Graduate Attributes set the tone for the seminar. The inspirational message was given by Mr. Jericho P. Orlina, AVP for Business Affairs. To inspire the participants more, Mr. Orlina showed the success story of Mr. Edgar Sia, founder of the Mang Inasal food chain.The morning session included three talks aimed to prepare and hone students for the global business platform. A discussion entitled, “Edge as an Escolarian Alumni” was given by one of the Makati Student Council pioneers, Dr. Jane Erica P. Acosta. She was followed Mr. Steve Michael Moore Jr. who talked on “Career Path Alignment: Are you on the right path?”. He delved on the various facets of the fast-paced corporate world and succeeding in the workplace. Lastly, pointers for creating a defining resume and surviving job interviews were given by Mr. Kim Chua with his talk, “Building your Professional Profile”.

In the afternoon, cluster sessions were held where each department had industry experts who discussed in-depth topics focused on their various programs. CEU Makati alumni were also invited to testify on “Life After Graduation”. The activity was indeed an approach to encourage the graduating students to keep on pursuing and achieving opportunities ahead of them.
