Escolarians’ 25th Jobs and Careers Fair “CEU Grad Net-geners: Your Edge in the Corporate World”

Centro Escolar University together with the University Student Council staged the 25th Annual Jobs and Careers Fair with the theme “CEU Grad Net-geners: Your Edge in the Corporate World” last January 30, 2015 at the Student Activity Center, CEU-Manila.

Attended by the graduating seniors, the Jobs and Careers Fair has been CEU’s way to promote and strengthen the linkage of the University with its industry partners. It also serves as a venue for them to demonstrate their enhanced skills for on-line job application, exude enriched professional image, and source information on other suitable career options.

The event opened with the multi-awarded Chef Edward Mateo, an alumnus from the CEU School of Nutrition and Hospitality Management (SNHM). Chef Edward shared with the graduating students the lessons in life that he gained from his humble beginnings until he became a successful Celebrity Chef and Entrepreneur. He advised the students to use their passion as an important tool to reach their goals.

After the opening ceremony, students had the chance to meet and apply to potential employers during the company booth hopping.

Aside from the company hopping, the Jobs and Careers Fair also featured a career expo. Ms. Mary Grace Riguer, OIC, Deputy Executive Director III of the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) Institute of Labor Studies talked about theASEAN Summit 2015; Dr. Rowel Antonio, General Manager of the CEU Consumers Cooperative and Faculty Member from the CEU School of Accountancy and Management gave a talk on Establishing Social Enterprises; Ms. Myrna Ricafort, OIC, Client Services Division of the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA) discussed Job Qualifications and Requirements for Open International Job Markets.

The activity concluded with the awarding of the Most Organized School, which was given to the School of Dentistry and the Most Participative College which went to the  College of Optometry.

The annual Jobs and Careers Fair is spearheaded by the Marketing Communications Department (MCD) led by Ms. Ma. Eleanor C. Espinas in partnership with the University Student Council (USC) under the supervision of Dr. Carlito B. Olaer, VP for Student Affairs.
