The Community Outreach Movement Pro-Active Student Services in collaboration with the Nursing Student Council and the Red Cross Youth Council conducted a seminar on Basic Life Support in Samahang Kapit Bisig sa Bay (SKBB) in Lower Bicutan, Taguig City last October 15, 2017. The seminar aimed at giving free first aid training, improve the community’s emergency response system, and promote the importance of education in basic life support. The organizers demonstrated the true value of social responsibility by showing altruism, helping other people and applying skills and knowledge about basic life support.
"Safety first is safety always." The Nursing Student Council led by Hans Vito Angelo Santiago, Red Cross Youth led by Ma. Sharina Alano, and Community Outreach Movement Pro-Active Student Services lead by Jay-Ar Ombay and Kimberly Reyes delivered an informative seminar for the beneficiaries on Basic Life Support. The students from the nursing department laid out an artistic and jovial approach into this seminar by preparing colorful visual aids for the kids. Big cardboard cutouts of everyday items and first aid necessities where made in order for the children in the area get to be familiar with them. For the adults, the nursing students made an elaborate role play by storytelling and news casting on first aid and lifesaving skills to explain these matters easily and in a manner that can be understood easily. Games that were in line with memory were also presented by the students so that the information set out to the beneficiaries would be retained and practiced.
