Departments & Programs

School of Law and Jurisprudence

The Juris Doctor Program of the CEU School of Law and Jurisprudence promises to open many doors of opportunities to its graduates.

Opportunities for graduates of law abound in the private practice of law, in the judiciary, the legislative department, and the many departments under the executive branch of government, as well as, in business, NGOs, and other private enterprises.

The lineup of faculty was carefully chosen and put up together by its Dean Senior Justice Josue N. Bellosillo (Ret.), consisting of the best and the brightest in the legal profession and the judiciary.

The study of law enhances the worth of a person as it sharpens his intellectual capabilities, improves logical thinking, and stimulates problem-solving skills. It broadens one’s outlook in life and creates a deeper understanding of human relations and social interactions. The trend in the country today is the opening of back offices, and one of the demands in this area is legal assistance.

MISSION & VISION PHILOSOPHY

The School of Law and Jurisprudence of the Centro Escolar University is committed to equipping students with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the art and science of law and jurisprudence. Its academic program is designed to provide the individual with a vibrant intellectual and moral learning environment that ensures an ethic-centered practice of law grounded on a full understanding of the law as it relates to human beings and society.  Its mission is to educate fully those who would become law practitioners and lead them to a relentless pursuit of truth and justice through scholarly dissection of the law and jurisprudence, a critical analysis of legal philosophy and doctrine, and a deeper understanding of the principles of legal ethics and professional responsibility to the end that they evolve into and flourish as valued members of the legal profession.

The Moot Court located in the 2 nd floor of the CEU Gil Puyat Campus is a real-life replica of a court room set up and is used during Practice Court sessions. This is where law students are trained and are honed to become masters in the craft of litigation and in the intricacies of the law profession. Students are made to bridge their four years of theoretical experience to practical applications through actual simulation learning of cases in a setting fit for a true litigator.
  • The Office of the Legal Aid (OLA)In consideration of the well-known mantra “those who have less in life must have more in law” and in compliance with the requirements of the Legal Education Board, every Law School is mandated to have its own legal aid clinic which caters to the under privileged members of the Society who are not able to secure legal services and counseling due to economic or social inadequacies. As part of the CEU Curriculum, third year law students, under the direction and supervision of a capable Legal Professor and Adviser, are expected to handle real life cases brought to the Office of the Legal Aid. The CEU (OLA) is open from Mondays to Saturdays, starting 8:00 in the morning until 5:30 in the evening, to anyone who is need of legal advice
    or assistance.
