CEU Faculty Members and Doctor of Pharmacy Students Conferred as Certified Immunizing Pharmacists

Escolarians remain at the forefront of change in the professional pharmacy service landscape in the Philippines and Asia.

 

Centro Escolar University faculty members and Doctor of Pharmacy students are now Certified Immunizing Pharmacists by the Philippine Pharmacists Association (PPhA) after completing the Immunizing Pharmacist Certification Program (IIPCP).

 

Among the 73 conferred Immunizing Pharmacists are Dr. Maria Donnabelle Dean, RPh, Program Head, CEU Makati Pharmacy Department, Ms. Mylene Perez, RPh, CEU Malolos faculty member and Doctor of Pharmacy students, Mr. Morisse Caleon,RPh, Mr. Neal Ashley U. Dean, RPh and Ms. Camille Demaisip, RPh.

 

The Professional Regulatory Board of Pharmacy (PRBOP) through the leadership of BOP OIC Hon. Anthony Aldrin Santiago, issued Resolution No. 05 series of 2021 in accordance with RA 10918 (Philippine Pharmacy Act) which accredited the PPhA as the training provider for Immunizing Pharmacist. The resolution also authorized PPhA to issue a Certificate of Training as a legal proof that the trained pharmacists can administer adult vaccines.

 

On April 5, 2021, the PPhA led by its President, Ms. Ma. Gilda Sebua-Saljay and the IPCP Program Manager, Mr. Bryan Posadas launched the Immunizing Pharmacist Certification Program (IPCP).

 

IPCP is an interactive practice-based educational program that equips Filipino pharmacists with the essential skills, necessary to become a reliable source for vaccine advocacy, education, and vaccination. The certification program has four sequential levels of learning and was aligned with the current global standards on immunization. As certified immunizing pharmacists, they must be responsible to engage in mandated learning programs to keep abreast of current developments, recommendations, protocols related to vaccines and vaccination. They must also maintain his or her Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate active at all times.
