HRM students win big in Food and Drinks Asia Cooking Challenge
The CEU’s Hotel and Restaurant Management program has once again proved its unbeatable stellar performance in the Food and Drinks Asia Cooking Challenge!
Two HRM students bagged the First Place in the said cooking challenge, which was participated by different universities in Metro Manila at the World Trade Center last September 8, 2018. The winning dishes of Daryl Castañeda and Charmaine Cruz of BSHRM-4A were Rice Quesong Puti Croquette, Tenderloin Bistek, and Filipino Vegetable Tempura with Sukang Iloko Dip.
Preparing for several days for the competition, Castañeda and Cruz’ efforts and hardships paid off. ‘We practiced for how many times. We encountered many failures during our practice, yet we need, and we have to improve our recipe,’ Cruz shared.
‘We thought that many of our competitors are prepared but we we are motivated by our Coach, Mrs. Tamayo, and our Program Head, Mrs. Mijares,’ Cruz added.
With the theme, ‘Nouvelle Filipino Cuisine,’ the Food and Drinks Asia 2018 is a much-awaited food event and a friendly competition of aspiring chefs from various culinary schools and training centers.
Their win would not have been possible without the help and support of their adviser, Mrs. Honey Liza Tamayo, and Mrs. Luzette T. Mijares, Program Head of the HRM Department.
